My Visit
What should I bring to class?
Bring a yoga mat, a water bottle, and comfortable clothing you can move in. If you don’t have a mat, don’t worry – you can rent one at the studio for just $3. We also offer fresh shower towels for a $3 rental, or a mat and towel combo for $5. All other practice props are fully provided!
Do you provide mats and props?
We fully provide a variety of practice props to support your session, including blocks, straps, resistance bands, Pilates balls, and sweat towels.
Because health and hygiene are our top priorities – and because we find most clients prefer the comfort of their own gear – we do not provide complimentary studio mats. However, if you forget yours or don’t own one yet, mats are available to rent for just $3! We also offer mats available for sale – see our Pricing page for more info.
Planning a private group class? We may be able to supply mats for your session – please Contact Us directly to coordinate the details.
What is included in my visit?
Every visit includes full access to our authentic Scandinavian-designed studio, featuring a cozy lounge area where you can relax and unwind before and after class. We provide all the practice props you need for your session, and our changing rooms are fully equipped with showers, a selection of toiletries, and a hair dryer for your convenience.
To keep you refreshed, we offer complimentary tea and coffee, as well as a water fountain. Fresh shower towels are available for rent, and we also have a curated variety of drinks and snacks available for purchase. All you need to do is show up and settle in.
What if I’m running late?
We understand life happens, but to ensure a peaceful class experience for all, we are unable to accommodate late arrivals. The building door is locked promptly at class start time for security. Failure to attend a booked class, will result in a $20 no-show fee.
Please arrive 10–15 minutes early to get settled. Students should be on their mat and ready to begin at the scheduled class start time. Please be mindful of parking and plan ahead.
Will I have enough space to practice?
Absolutely. We want everyone to feel entirely at ease on their mat. At Skandiflow, we intentionally cap our class capacities to ensure that every student has plenty of room to move, stretch, flow, and breathe deeply. We prioritize your comfort and personal space, ensuring your practice is always uninterrupted and uncrowded. This allows you to focus entirely on your own movement and breath, free from the distraction of feeling crowded.
What should I do If I have an injury? Can I still practice?
Yes, you can certainly still practice, provided you have been cleared for movement by a healthcare professional. Your safety is our priority. Please arrive a few minutes early to introduce yourself to your instructor and inform them of any injuries or limitations. Our teachers are happy to offer modifications, adjustments, or alternative poses to ensure your practice remains safe, effective, and tailored to your body’s current needs.
Do you have shower facilities?
Yes, we do. We offer clean, modern shower facilities for our students to use after class. We want you to leave feeling refreshed and ready to carry the calm of the studio into the rest of your day, whether you’re heading back to work or straight home. We have a selection of toiletries to ensure you have everything you need for your visit.
Do you have parking?
There is on street parking and two parking garages nearby on Wellington St and Brock St. Parking is typically free after 5:30 PM on weekdays and on Sundays, There are also bicycle racks nearby.
Do you have a lost and found?
We do! Stop by the studio before class or send us a message and we’ll see if we have your missing item.
Studio
Are you a hot yoga studio?
We are much more than a hot yoga studio; we are a unique, Scandinavian-inspired wellness centre. While many studios stick to one environment, we are one of the only places in Kingston to offer classes across three distinct temperature ranges: hot, warm, and non-heated.
This flexibility allows you to choose the environment that best supports your body and goals for the day – whether that’s an intense, sweat-focused hot yoga or mat Pilates session, a warming flow, or a grounded, non-heated mat Pilates or sound bath experience.
Beyond our studio classes, we offer private wellness coaching, events, and workshops designed to help you find your lagom -that perfect state of balance. You can explore our full range of offerings and class temperatures on our Classes at Skandiflow.
What is the difference between Mat Pilates and Reformer Pilates?
At Skandiflow, we believe in the Scandinavian principle of lagom – choosing what is “just right.” We favour Mat Pilates as the ultimate test of control and strength. While Reformers use machine resistance – designed by Joseph Pilates as a stepping stone to prepare bodies for the advanced control of the mat – Mat Pilates is the true foundation of the practice. Mat Pilates demands that you rely entirely on your own body, leading to an incredibly challenging workout that will leave you sweating and feeling truly invigorated.
Both are fantastic for building core strength, but they feel different. Reformer Pilates uses a machine with springs to assist your movement. Mat Pilates, which we specialize in at Skandiflow, uses your own body weight. We love the mat because it’s the ultimate test of control – it’s an intense, sweaty, full-body workout that builds the kind of functional strength you can use every day. Think of the Reformer as a stepping stone; by stripping away the machinery, we help you really master your own movement, build functional power, and cultivate a deep mind-body connection you can carry into your daily life. It is simple, intense, and precisely what your body needs. We may also use props like sliders, blocks, and Pilates balls to get us deeper into the practice.
Why do you sell Scoria yoga mats and products at Skandiflow?
We absolutely love Scoria‘s products and we are proud to be Kingston’s official Scoria stockist! We chose them because they are completely eco-friendly, perform better than other brands, especially for our hot and sweaty classes, come in a range of beautiful designs, and they are all about karma, commitment to social good, and giving back to Indigenous communities through their support of Right to Play. We are also pleased to offer these products to our community at a lower rate than their website, ensuring that high-quality, sustainable gear is accessible for your practice.
Why do you choose to be a Registered Yoga School (RYS 200) with Yoga Alliance?
At Skandiflow, we believe in quality and professional integrity. We are proud to be a Registered Yoga School (RYS 200) because it holds our studio to the highest international standards for training and safety. Being recognized by Yoga Alliance ensures that our teaching methodology is consistent, evidence-based, and rooted in the deep traditions of yoga. It is our way of guaranteeing that when you step into one of our classes – whether it’s hot, warm, or non-heated – you are receiving instruction from skilled, well-trained professionals who are as committed to your growth and safety as you are. This commitment to quality also makes Skandiflow the premier destination in Kingston for those looking to start their own journey as a teacher. When you choose us for your 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, you’re learning in an environment that prioritizes evidence-based practice, anatomical precision, and the deep, mindful traditions of yoga. Upon graduation, you will also be entitled to use the designation Registered Yoga Teacher and the letters “RYT 200”, instead of Certified Yoga Teacher. To learn more, please visit about our 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training page.
